Mary Ann
At Fleurieu Distillery our barrels don't just hold whisky - they hold stories. Mary Ann is part of our cherished 'Matriarch Series', a collection of 225L casks named in honour of the remarkable women in our family.
This whisky pays tribute to Gareth's Welsh grandmother. A woman short in stature but mighty in presence. Born in 1906, Mary Ann Watkins was a bespoke tailor educated through London's Polytechnics. During the hardships of World War II, she not only kept her family sharply dressed and the household in order, but she also taught women at night school how to turn old garments into new clothing for their children.
Crafted from peated malt imported from Crisp Maltings in the UK, and distilled, matured and bottled at Fleurieu, this cask strength whisky is a fitting salute to a woman whose influence still lingers today. Raise a glass to the remarkable Mary Ann!
